Ah, it has been a great week so far!

We had dinner at my favorite sushi place on Tuesday night in celebration of a friend's first gainful employment in 2 1/2 years - the food was so incredible and so intense! Just amazing. I used to live on the same block so I am very familiar with the menu, but they really outdid themselves on Tuesday.

Last night, not only did I get a proper seatpost for my new bike (the one it came with wasn't long enough, so all test rides were done beyond min insertion and that is not good) we had the most amazing night out. We went to the WOMANKIND presented lecture with Jackie Kay, Ali Smith and Jeanette Winterson. Jeanette Winterson has long been my favorite writer, so when this came up we had to go. I packed up my Powerbook (my favorite bok of hers) and we headed down. It was amazing - just the three writers doing their readings - but we also had a folk musician entertaining us with her voice and guitar and Sandy Toksvig made an appearance, and an appeal for WOMANKIND, at the end. The night out was highly entertaining with much humor and laughter. And in the end I didn't have to chase Jeanette Winterson down with my Powerbook and hasitly purchased pen I just had to queue with the rest of the crowd in the book signing line and she singed my book - she ever wrote my nake in the book :) It was fabulous. And the ping of weissbier afterwards and the funghi bruschetta was exceptional as well.

So on to tonight! I have just been to the aquatic center and adopted 2 fish for my aquarium. Long ago I kept some minnows and a couple of weeks ago I purchased a new tank and it has been conditioing and making itself ready for it's new occupants. The place I went to is highly professional and I feel a little out of my depth looking to get a couple of tiny minnows in a place that can sort you our with 500 gallon tropical tanks with living coral and big fish but they don't seem to mind. In talking to one of the guys there and seeing the filterless biosystem fish tank I know what I aspire to. And there are so many fabulous tiny fish (which is what I like). I will invest in a heater, but not until my minnows and my new plants are ready...these things take time.

Tomorrow will be fabulous as well as I get to ride my new fixed gear to work - I have been waiting for this all week!!!!! I am on the motorbike today as I thought that would be easier on the fish than pedaling them up the hill back to my house.

More later!

Hey all....long time, eh? I'm back :)

I am settled in London again - I have a great job and a great flat...and two new two wheeled vehicles! Ah, it's happy days :)

A and I have been making curries and visiting Chinatown and the Chinese grocery stores, and we even found a great South Indian restaurant that does an amazing masala dosa...ah, we have been reliving our memories!!!! All the snack food we ate when riding in Tibet has been found (the rice crispie treat type snacks, A's favorite sunflower seeds, the hawthorne fruit rolls....and even the dried, salted broad beans!). We haven't found that really yummy cake I loved so much in Lhasa, though....oh well.

Here is my new motorbike...his name is Puck and he is such a giggle to ride. Strangely he feels best when I have a big bag strapped to the pillion seat - as if I had my big rucksack strapped to the back of my Pulsar...it's such a comforting feeling :) Really, though he LOVES to corner and flit in and out of traffic leaving all others in his wake - including other motorbikes. It is hilarious :)

My new job is right in the center of town - between Warren Street and Oxford Circus. I ride my bicycle to work pretty much everyday. There is no room in the office, so the bicycle has to live outdoors all day with all the other bikes locked to the rails and poles. That was not making me happy with my lovely XO1 being out there, banged around and having to suffer the weather and the dust (I know it's cross bike, but give it the dirt, not the everyday grime) plus I wanted a fixed gear. I now have a new, all weather steed that I can park out in the weather...I am just building up this wonder bike now. Take one Trek Soho S and put a drop bar on it...viola! Super commuter :)

It's not finished yet, it still needs a bit of sorting...a longer seatpost a few adjustments here and there, bar tape....it already rocks (I rode it home last night) and it can only get better :)

Catch you all later!!!
